I had a meeting with a guy from TV last week.
He's born and bred TV, lived there most of his life and is about to retire there. Loves the place but also loves coming to Cairns regularly for holidays.

He describes Cairns as the cosmopolitan capital of FNQ. a big holiday industry. Lots to see and do.

TV is a workers city. Industrial and military. Port and mining base.

Not in Cairns, they dont .

Apples are a cool climate fruit. Need to move to Tasmania for them.

I can't say I've noticed to be honest.
Got mangoes growing wild everywhere.
Maybe most of the fruit is grown up on the tablelands.

I can't say what TV has cos I've only visited.

Cairns is a very "arty" place into craft, arts, dance, singing, drama and music and is blessed by having influences from all over the world in that respect.

If they're into classical type musical instruments then Cairns youth orchestra is something pretty special although I don't think it's only classical they do.

If they like swimming they can join my mates lifesaving club. Caters for all ages and is a good community thing.

OOooohhhh sounds great!!!! Girls play the violin and cornet, so we should manage to get them into something similar there.
They do all sorts of dancing......cheer leading, street dancing and classical (tango, foxtrot, waltz, latin etc).
Our 11 year old would love the 'arty' side of Cairns......she wants to be an artist and make her own jewellery!!!!
Hubby just rung very excited.........saw a job advertised with a fantastic pay in Cairns........but wants someone out there in 6-8 weeks!!!!

Ah, made for the place.
That orchestra is really good.

There are various festival and show type things happening throughout the year.

We went to the cultural festival and there were all types of dance from Spanish Flamenco to Thai traditional to Albanian folk.
Actually the Albanian folk was like Morris Dancing without the bells

Your 11yo will love popping up to Kuranda and all the other local markets.
All sorts of home made jewellery and artist.

Tell hubby you could come out in advance to keep the job warm for him
