I know. I was out on the water this arvo. There was a halo of cloud around the mountains behind Kanimbla which looked magic as the sunset.
Boss said we should sail out to Green Island for the next staff meeting.
Tough but someone has to do it.

You lot are NUTS wanting to live up there. Its not the crocs or the snakes or the jellyfish. Just being with the people is enough and the kids are ferrel. (I know i am gonna get sh+t for this) The summer is ridiculous, its expensive, you have to travel to Townsville or Brissy if you want anything and its not even that beautiful, the Whitsundays are beautiful. Fraser island is beautiful.
All the bars you mentioned and clubs, well, I am glad I am not looking for a partner is all I can say. I pity your kids.
It does have beauty, but I would give anyone who lives there a medal. Or you are retiring there, in which case how lovely for you x where I live is far from perfect but at least I have choice. Life is about choices.
(for those who are wondering, yes I have spent time there, I even got married there, my best mate still lives there)

Hi,
I've read this thread and have got to say we cannot wait to get to this hateful place as soon as we can..... We will be arriving sometime in July / August on a 457 as long as our meds and x-rays go okay on Tuesday.
We were forewarned how bad it is there by a couple of friends who arrived in Port Douglas 5 weeks ago. They hated it so much they couldn't wait to get there either.
We are so glad we choose this job over the other one my hubby was offered as we would have been going to Kalgoorlie if he had taken the other one. We watched a program about Kalgoorlie on Discovery earlier tonight and it looked like a great place to live..................NOT!!
See you soon...... all going well

On that note, let me reinforce that you all have my sincere condolences etc. I pity you all, your kids, your family, your dog, and myself. I'm sure we are all happy to be nutcases in this cirumstance. "Sane" people just don't get these sorts of 'living' problems and dilemmas about parking space etc etc and where to put their towel on a pristine deserted beach. Remind me to stay this side of the nutcase fence cause the view and breeze from over here is wonderful and lets my soul breathe.

As Snappy said, I too, am glad you love where you live.
On that note I want to say how much I have enjoyed reading this thread. Its been entertaining, humorous, encouraging, and informative.
YOU GUYS are a breath of fresh air. Your attitudes are great.
Thankyou!
I just sold my 19 ft power boat and ocean exploration was one of my favourite past times - exploring the islands and reefs on the weekends, diving and fishing, camping, and relaxing - its so enjoyable. You guys have got me thinking again about all the good times out there on the water with friends!! I am now throthing at the mouth and wanting another decent boat!
V.
ps Yes, you'll need a toothpick to pull out the roasted shoelaces, lol.
