All booked. Big fees tho! I think I paid about $600 taxes and fees!

(apparently if you fly first out of LHR it bumps it up big)

...actually you probably would've also paid an extra $75 close in ticketing fee as its less than 21 days til departure.

Not yet for me...but 80%, 90% and 100% have all been reported so far.

At current miles prices I'm only really interested in 100%, but it's clever of US to offer 90%...it just seems like such a small difference!

Hi all

I've got a friend planning a Far Eastern/Australian trip later in the year and no availability from LHR on the dates that suit, so we're looking at routing through Europe. He particularly wants to fly with Thai, having been spoiled by trying 1st class for the first time last year.

I know nowt about all the different planes, which ones have suites, which ones should be avoided, etc. Does anyone (BCW maybe.... ) have any recommendations about which routes to concentrate on because the particular (Thai) planes used mean an even better experience in first from Europe to BKK? Also I use ANA for checking (which I see now has a handy one week at a time option), so if you could specify the aircraft code (eg 744), that would help enormously.

Thanks folks!

Hi Louie,

It will depend on when 'later this year' is.

But, for the rest of this year TG922/3 (FRA) should be operated by the 77W with suites in F as should all CDG flights - these are the ex Jet Airways (777s) planes people talk about.

The TG A380 with all new F is due to start on TG920/1 (FRA) from 15th Dec. From Aug 1-Dec 14 that same flight should also be operated by a refitted 747 with a new suite style product in F. That plane will also pop up on some other routes like MUC from August too. If you have KVS or make a dummy booking on the TG website look for a seatmap with 9 F seats instead of the current 10 (or dreaded 14!) on a 747.

The really old 14 seat F should start to disappear. In fact there are some sweet deals to be had as the 10F (current non suite F product) aircraft will start to serve CPH andf ARN but TG will continue to sell it as C in those markets and US Airways will collect C class miles - the seating will be lie flat F with C service.

In ANA I think the 380 shows as 380 or 388.

The 747 situation is more complicated as TG is not differentiating between the 'new' and very old cabins...both I think will show up as 747...the current 10F model will show up as 744. You need to check seat maps to be sure.

9F = brand new suite style
10F = current F - full lie flat bed non suite
14F = retro styleee!

Oh yeah, I think the 9F model will start showing up on SYD too but possibly not until early next year.

Sadly LHR is staying A346 with current F for now...A380 expected next year I think.

p.s. my discount offer is currently 0%...MOST offended!
