sorry for the stupid question and i know i should be able to research it (i have tried i promise) but all the codes etc are hard to follow.

where is the easiet place to book the flight?
looking to go from bris/syd to uk what is best option, and how many miles is it for 1st class
is there anyway of going via dubai or the middle east
I'd say Dubai or the middle east would be difficult. Firstly, as far as I know there are no star alliance hub airports so technically stopover is not allowed there. Secondly some US agents may not allow a stopover if the route is not on a commonly used route or where a more direct route is available. There is no direct star flight from DXB-UK so you would have to do something like: BNE-BKK-DXB-FRA-LHR. It might be possible to get the stopover at DXB by calling until someone fails to apply the rules properly, but a bit of a risk.

2 seats?

Only departing on the 19th from SYD. (SYD-BKK (possible 1 day stop)-FRA-MAN)

Don't have time to check all the permutations for the return but it will be tricky. From what I can see there might be something on the 7th. Again - MAN-FRA-BKK-SYD.

If we think we've got it good with Dividend Miles, think again.

Some people bought tickets from American Airlines which entitles them to unlimited, free First Class tickets for life. This includes the right to receive companion tickets. It cost them $350,000 but it appears they are each costing American more than $1 million EACH YEAR as they spend most of their lives flying. Looks like they are also "selling" the companion tickets to anyone they can find who wants a weekend in Paris. Just waiting for US Airways to announce a similar deal...

This might be of interest to PER folks thinking of visiting the South Island(s).

Over the coming southern Summer (Nov-Mar) Air NZ is upgrading the PER-AKL service to a 777...meaning full flat beds in business. Availability is typically very good on this route.

Return to AKL in business will be 30k miles.

Total cost would be about $725pp if getting your miles in a 100% promo.

That's a great deal, but why not fly all the way to the Cook Islands with a stopover in AKL? Went there last year and it was very nice.
