Just to confirm that BA is the only One World airline you need to pay a fuel surcharge on ?
Does that mean if you fly Qantas, Cathay , JAL etc... the tax would be smiler to the Dividend Miles bookings ?

AFAIK all the others should have identical taxes / surcharges to a US booking i.e. government / airport taxes only.

with AAdvantage you can book partner flights online (except cathay i think) and you can placr it on hold for 5 days which gives you time to sort out stuff like hotels etc. and also while waiting for ur purchased miles to be credited.
i used my AA miles for my NZ trip on qantas and its so easy to do online. they have an oz phone number to help as well.

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone found a way of flying from bris or syd/Mel 1st class to europe pref Lahr via Asia and Dubai. I know you can go Thai to syd to bio 1st class and onto Lahr but really would like to stop in Dubai on the way thru.

I have no idea where Lahr (or bio) is but stopover in DXB isn't really possible as it is not a star alliance hub airport. If you want to fly F it can only be from SYD & only on Thai. You may be able to convince an agent to send you SYD-BKK-DXB-FRA-LHR(?) but it will be mostly in business class. But like I said - the stopover is not likely to be allowed at DXB.

Thanks for that, ya meant to say Lhr. Was trying this morning to get flight from either bris syd or Mel to anywhere in Europe from 19th -23rd and back 1-4 jan but can only find availability going out. Do you think any last minute availability pop up? Thanks bio was meant to be bkk sorry it's the predictive text.

It has been playing up recently. I do think things are quite tight over the summer...try Austrian Airlines to VIE (from BKK)...all the long haul fleet will be fitted with new lie flat beds a la Swiss by then.

Looks like Thai are not offering Business Class redemption on their A380 from BKK to Europe next summer and Tyrolean via Vienna is the next best option. Adds another two hours to the flight unfortunately. Trying to get to Montreal, CA with a stopover in Europe (on the way back) so it's going to be a very, very long trip...

Don't think that's the case...e.g:
FRA is certainly tricky though. But there is no blanket ban on business class A380 redemption.

United.com shows the availability too.
AC has decent availability CDG-YUL, BUT CDG is not a *A hub so they might not allow the stopover.
