LOL! Thanks Simone.

BM starts her chemo today, so all happy, healing thoughts should be directed to Jersey, Channel Islands Spoke to her and she is psyching herself up for the next bit. She's not looking forward to the somewhat bleak chemo ward, but let's face it, by the end of her treatment she'll be best mates with everyone there, know everyone's life history and have married off various doctors, nurses and orderlies

hiya bundy

Sending BM (and the rest of you of course) big love and cyber hugs...urgh the chemo ward <shudders>....I think they must be the same the world over, cos my chemo ward was also quite possibly the bleakest place to be given chemo...you'd think they'd make an effort to make them a more pleasant environment considering....oMG and the food they gave us was awful too ...here's hoping at least the food is better there! If not smuggle some in for them all!!!

Good luck

love sophia xxx

Message from Bundy:
Hello everyone,

Well, for reasons best known to itself, my system here seems to have chucked me out of the forum.....vicious rumours of a firewall abound, or, worse still, maybe they're onto me here at work and they've blocked the forum. Yikes!!! Either way, I can't log on from work, and I don't get a lot of time to log on from home, so Simone is doing a little stint as my secretary to post this (thanks Simone. Again!). And you wouldn't believe the amount of work I've managed to get done this week without the distraction of BE!

I'm off to Jersey on Monday to see the BundyParents and find out how my mum is getting on with her chemo. She sounds alright on the phone, but that's certainly no judge of the situaiton since she is the very definition of putting on a brave face. Will have to see her in person to assess her condition....and find out how BundyDad is getting on too.
Round 1 of the chemo treatment seems to have been ok: BM was ice-capped, as promised ('darling, it looked like a tea cosy with wires') and spent a merry time talking to her cousin who had accompanied her and munching ham sarnies, which doesn't sound too bad. She has adopted her chemo nurse (this is Jersey, everyone gets there own nurse) as surrogate daughter number 500 and is busy sorting out said nurse's love life. The chemo left her feeling a bit tired, but well enough to go out for a
zimmer along the pier. She is dosed up to the eyeballs with anti-sickness pills since vomiting whilst a) wearing an industrial corset b) having an unstable spine and c) being unable to bend over is a little, erm, trying. Anyway, we'll see how she gets on. The consultants refuse to give timescales any more because she just keeps proving them wrong!

Meanwhile I've been plodding on at work adding probable redundancy or possible job reconfiguration to my list of *challenges*. Sometimes I wonder if someone hasn't decided that last year and this year are my years for learning how to lose it all and start again.....

Updates to follow from Jersey.

Please pass on to Bundy, as usual, we are thinking of her and BM. Her boss wants shooting. Trying to make Bundy's life as hard as poss.

Hope the trip reassures and the anti-sickness pills work.

Lots of love and hugs.

Please pass lots of hugs on to Bundy from me, for her & BM. Bet BM will be really cheered when Bundy gets over there - it all helps. Fingers crossed that the next bout of treatment goes well - and that the chemo nurse gets her man

Cheers,
Anya.

Oh no, that's torn it! They might've just been checking and now you've proved it for them by being more productive!

Hello, hello, hello.....

Yes, I know, I disappeared without a trace, but I'm back now. The blighters at work have installed a firewall so I can't log on to expats at work. I know, I'm as shocked and disappointed as you are

Anyway, thanks to Simone for updating. Thought I'd give you the latest. I've been back from Jersey since Wednesday but life is somewhat hectic and I've not had a chance to log on from home until now. Mind you, seems fitting that I post a BM update today since it is one year to the day since we all found out she had breast cancer.

Honestly, the woman is a marvel. There she is after her first hefty dose of chemo looking as radiant and well as ever. Happy to report no side effects at present bar feeling a bit tired and something-personal-that-will-scare-the-men-and-bring-sympathy-from-the-women . She still has all her hair/eyebrows/eyelashes thanks to the magic ice cap they've been using on her. Looks like a gigantic octopus, bizarrely.

She's had her first blood test and the results showed that she had, in effect, no white blood cells whatsoever. Zip. Which means the chemo is working. They are really pleased because it happened in a couple of days and shows that she is responding very well to the treatment. She has since had her booster jabs to give her something approaching an immune system.

Unfortunately, whilst sitting in the hospital awaiting her booster jabs, she picked up a tummy bug which meant a frantic dash to Oncology on Monday. Talk about the benefits of a private health care system - she had her blood taken, tested and the results given within 3 minutes of arrival and the consultant arrived 2 minutes after that apologising for being late! We were out within half an hour. Luckily the infection wasn't too bad so BM didn't have to be admitted. She was over it by the next day.

She's going nuts because of not being allowed out to mingle with the Great Unwashed, what with her immune system and all, but she has been to the day hospice. Sadly two of her hospice buddies died last week which was upsetting for us all and a bit of a reminder that BM is actually quite ill (we forget sometimes).

I spent 2 days helping my dad put together a CV and job applications. Having been self-employed forever, he had nothing to go on! However, he has managed to get three interviews for next week and I'm thinking of selling my services in future! We're hoping some part time work will get him out and about a bit more now that my mum is able to be left on her own.

So, I'm now back at work, still facing redundancy in the autumn but not that worried about it. Life is such at the moment that I quite like the idea of a total change of scene.....all is not well with Mr B (long story), my job is vanishing before my eyes, my family is in an 'unusual' situation, I won't be going to Oz etc etc. I like to think that I'm neatly containing all my *life challenges* in one year

And that's about that. Thanks to those who have sent messages via Simone. Always good to know that people are thinking of the mighty BundyMum.

More later....

Bundy

It goes to show Bundy that we never know what will happen. A year ago you had no idea if your mum would still be here, and here she is keeping the nurses on their toes.

I think you will get to Oz Bundy, it wont be now, it will be when the time is right to go.

I feel that BundyMum is proving them all wrong. Its just not convenient for her to be sick and she is damn well going to fight it too.

Yes, she is seriously ill, but those doctors had better not write her off yet, because whilst there is still puff in her body, she will puff it out.

And good on her for having that attitude as well.

But as I have said before, whilst you are rushing around sorting everyone out, dont forget yourself.

And if you get made redundant, I have no doubt at all you will get something else, bigger and better.

Give your mum a hug from me and tell her when she gets pissed off, to imagine her favourite male doctor in a leopard G string.

Really pleased BM is keeping everyone on their toes. Sounds even sexier than before - corseted octopus Hope MrB problems are solvable, redundancy is good (I should know, I've had it four times ) Nothing like being paid to leave a job you are getting pissed of with

Loads of hugs to you and yours.

Yeah right. Like we scare that easily. There's almost nothing that we don't get ourselves, you know!

Well, great to see you back again. Here's hoping that all the effort has a positive outcome, for you, BM, BD, Mr B, your career, your country of residence. You all deserve it!
