Regarding Caxton Street i haven't seen as many bars in such a concentrated anywhere like it in Melbourne or Sydney (maybe there is ) but off hand i can think of the following within a hundred or so yards

Add to these a couple of bars across the road in the Barracks (not quite sure of their names as i don't earn enough to drink in them ) a couple of tapas bars and 2 restaurants belonging to Gambaros (one seafood other steak house) a man or woman cannot go wrong !

Be even better if any of them sold any decent beer

Pah ! As soon as the whinging Pom left we got this nice little boutique bar in Cleveland with some nice norty little numbers on tap !

Actually another 3 or 4 boutique bars over there opened in the last few months or so as well. Very laid back from the city itself .


Stroll down from the Jubilee next to the Tivoli along Constance street calling in Limes, Alfred and Constance, Kerbside,Gin Bar The Mill and a couple of others before you even reach the Valley itself

In the city itself you have both Pig n Whistles O'malleys The Gresham, Brew, John Mills Himself,Super Whatnot, Buffalo Bar,Embassy is now a real ale type place, Port Office. Verve (dedicated cider bar )

I haven't found a suitable watering hole yet. There isn't an exact translation but I do like the closest alternative which is a social club(?). No point looking for something that doesn't exist - but perhaps a good hotel would be the closest here. Not overly impressed with anything central Brisbane.

That's a difficult one ! Closest i can think would be any leagues club i guess. Broncos,Carina,Easts Arana or even Wynnum Manly but nothing comes to mind centrally unfortunately

Been to a few serious drinking events there, but I have to say its not a drinking hole of choice. I'm not keen on the leagues clubs environment really, prefer something closer to the traditional pub (or as close as you get here) - Pig n Whistles, O'Malleys, the Jubilee, Charming Squire. I also like sitting at RGs in the afternoon watching the world go by in Brunswick St, and it'll be interesting to see what this new place is like - Taps
