Boring Perth?

I used to live in Sherwood and New Basford. I got my car broken into twice in Sherwood and twice in New Basford. I got my house broken into once in Sherwood and twice in New Basford. I got my car smashed into by drugged up youths in Lenton. This was all in 3 years - 1995 to 1998.
Still like Nottingham though...but I know where I want my daughters to be.

I had a German friend come to visit Australia not all that long ago. She booked herself into accommodation in Sydney for a week, but was ready to go after the first day (she really took a dislike to the place).
But she said to me, "I guess I expected Australian cities to be like European cities."
What she meant was that you're not going to find history on every corner, or a lot of beautiful architecture, or things like that. She whizzed around on a sightseeing bus and climbed the Bridge, and she was done.
It is the same kind of situation in Perth. Nice to look at, but not all the attractions Europeans take for granted. The difference is that there isn't anywhere to escape to over there.
The only Australian city with all the big 'National' monuments, buildings, museums and galleries is Canberra.
But then surely nobody comes to Australia for the culture!!
I couldn't live in Perth, largely because I'm not all that attracted to the outdoors stuff. I don't mind it from time to time, but once I've sat on a beach for a couple of hours I've had enough. It all depends what you want out of a destination.

Nottingham's a dump old boy. Lived in Hyson Green when I was at Uni...
Burgled at least 3 times. I lost count. Once when I was asleep the burglars came up the stairs and woke me up. I bet you used to know Hyson green quite well. you seem the type. ;-)

I've lived in Nottingham for 35 years, my parents for 70 years - never been burgled once. Never been mugged. never been stabbed. Never been shot. All depends where in Nottingham you live.

Again, St Anns, poor run down inner sity suburb. Large Student area.
Just saying, Not all of Nottingham is the same. you seem to have lived in a couple of the worse places.
And not being funny, but i wouldn't take my facts from a website that ANYONE can alter.
Channel 4's list - I wonder how many of those who made the 10 worse places to live actually LIVED in any of the 10 worse places to live or if they based it on reported crime figures?
You live in london? how are your crime figures there? How many burglaries there?
All places have good and bad areas. unfortunately as I said before - you just happened to reside in a couple of the bad areas. I suspect price of accomodation and you being a student had a lot to do with it?

According to wikipedia, St Anns is listed as Channel Four's list of the top 10 worst places to live in Britain.
