Boring Perth?

We were going to go but thought it would have been rained out. Should have taken the chance, eh?

We were without children for the weekend so stayed in. Daughter went to Albany all on her own to visit a friend and son stayed at a friend's house Saturday night then went motor bike riding in the hills all day Sunday.

And yes Perth is isolated for better or worse each must make their own mind up on that....and yes Perth can be stifling and boring for many.
Often very valid comments with regards to this subject are raised and instead of attacking the critic would be far more constuctive for people to not be so complacent and demand better.

I keep coming across this stuff. Why? Is Perth really dullsville? Is this an accurate assessment?

Can I qualify for life in Perth? Most of the stuff im interested in is outdoor stuff, not a pub person, like bbq's, surfing, trailbikes, walking the dog, chilling out with a decent book, camping, and playing music.

What is the overall vibe in Perth? Hippy chic? Conservative? Liberal? Left? etc etc. You say Perth was quiet compared to Brisbane? Brisbane is also very quiet in the cbd especially at weekends it is virtually deserted after 4pm. I lived near to Fortitude Valley and quite liked the grungy feel. Surfing was good being close to Burleigh heads and a few other quality spots etc.
I like the idea of a desert being close by. For anyone who has spent time living in Vegas, how does it compare?

Hi Sue, thanks for the response. I enjoy playing guitar, listening to music, trail biking off-road, surfing, chilling outside at bbq, reading, watchng dvds and tv. I don't really worry about pubs...

Have never been to Brisbane but two friends from here ,one young other middle aged both thought than Brisbane had the edge over Perth in that the city was more vibrant with more to do.

Perth should be enough to satisfy the interests you give....Generally it is thought of as a Conservative type place.(with reason)

The point about Perth being geographically isolated doesn't really affect day to day life, does it? You can be in the middle of London or New York and some would find their life isolated, perhaps. Boring is relative to what you do and whether you enjoy doing it or not. Surely, Perth has enough culture, intellectual life, beaches and restaurants to satisfy most people.
