Would you say that the hugely sweeping statements you say about all Australians doesn't come under 'simple abuse' too though? I read Hutch's stuff and it just looks like he's a bit sick of his countrymen and women being slagged off all the time and being put under a 'one size fits all' blanket.

I think that it's reasonable to expect some come back if you are going to write that kind of thing on an open discussion forum.

Thanks for that. It does make me wonder why I bothered to write up a positive thread about Canberra. It seems to have given ammo to those that think I'm wrong about Australia by conceding I have found somewhere I actually like. I don't see the two things as mutually exclusive, I can dislike the country and it’s attitudes and still find a city or place to live I like. Doesn’t mean the original premise is wrong.

I could sit and write positive things about Canberra all day and equally a much larger list of bad things about the rest of the country that I have experienced.

I'm still curious why you'd live in a country you hate even if you do find a nice place to be. It's just my personal opinion - I find that odd in the extreme. I'm not 'attacking' you or thinking your original premise is wrong, but I am curious why you'd live here in Aus when you could go home to the country that you do love living in. Please explain that to me... I am genuinely interested.

You must listen to the news? Watch the telly? listen to talk back radio? It can be just my view. I don't want to start a row about how unfriendly towards any non white they are, but I can't believe if you watch the same news and radio as I do you could come up with any other conclusion. I think it all started during the gold rush when the Chinese got out of hand but I could be wrong.
