I gave you mllions of peoples opinions all conveniently condensed into this map (which you seem to have ignored):
http://www.stratfor.com/files/mmf/a/...b98fd89742.jpg If you are like 95% of people, you will want to live reasonably close to a major city (within driving distance depending on your requirements) and you will want to live near the coast, e.g. within approx 20km of the coast. The other 4.9% like a rural lifestyle, checkout some of those orange areas on the map. 0.1% like to live in the less populated parts of Australia. Watch dennis O'rourke's documentary "cunnamulla" for an idea of what this entails. And cunnamulla is a fairly busy place compared to many outback "communities". One other piece of advice I would offer. Look at Cairns on the map, and follow the coastline anti-clockwise until you get to Perth. Don't bother considering that part of Australia. Darwin is up that way, I've never been there though. |

Re: Best place to live and to avoid in Oz
The best way to decide where to live is to hire a motor home and spend a few months driving around the country from Adelaide through to Melbounre up along the NSW coast to Brisbane / Cairns and you are bound to find some where you really like,

The best way to work out where to live is get your arse over here and look for yourself, how can someone else make up your mind for you or give you ideas without knowing hardly anything about you and add to that how different all people are and their likes and dislikes its impossible to say.
20 years ago I went to Kings Cross on my first visit to Sydney and had a great time, start off there for a few months and take it from there. |

Don't listen to this bloke. The best way is just to read the threads on BE, pick the answers that you like, choose a suburb and then just move there.
heheheheheheheheh...I had to read it twice. |

I know and I enjoyed our little banter but seriously I know it was to broad a question to answer accurataly, I didn't come on here to make enemies I just wanted an honest answer from people who been there and done it, we will qualify once my wife does her teaching degree she has the experience, so providing everything is ok we will hopefully goto adalaide or surrounding area as it sounds the most child friendly/orientated or where ever she can get work, I'm assuming being a teacher almost everywhere will need teachers of some duscription? Probably not the case though.

The conditions are very good - new houses, etc . Small towns in NSW are very friendly in my experience- so don't be put off by a seemingly remote area. |

Keep in mind that 'remote' in Australia can be REALLY remote. You could end up a very long way from anything.
