The reason you got answers, perhaps slightly less helpful than you expected, is because, to be honest, the question is just dumb.

Australia is huge. What would your answer be if I asked you the best places to live and avoid in Europe?

Not one Mention For south Australia so far

When I first decided I wanted to live in Aus my first choice was Perth but after doing a lot of research we thought about Melbourne, Perth just seemed a bit isolated for us, but apparently it is beautiful place.

After looking more into Melbourne and having a few job offers there, we were sure that's where we would end up.( but in the back of my mind I thought it was a bit busy and weather a bit unpredictable).

Then after scratching my head and many discussions with the family Adelaide came into play. Great beaches ,not to busy, great hills ,lovely places to visit, friendly people. Well I have been here for 16 months with 3 kids (and another on the way, Must be mad) and love it.

Some people dont like it but hey its all down what you want out of Aus.

The main thing is that you are willing to come and give it a go in Australia. Wherever you end up just remember its an adventure and enjoy it.

Also, why do people give out about Sydney? Its one of the best looking cities on the planet. Sure its expensive... if you've never lived in Dublin.

Because it takes sooo looong to get out of the place and the traffic is sooo baaad that not even bulldozers can get in to clean up the place.

Takes so long to get out of it? Depends on how you're travelling I suppose. I can get home from work in 15 minutes by train and I work in the CBD. Clean up the place? Sydney is a very clean city and very well organized around events such as festivals, football games etc.

To add injury to insult, they charge you to use the roads even when you just want to get shot of the place. The trains don't run on time and the seats clammy with the sweat of who knows what. I've seen cleaner rubbish tips.

I don't think it's pointless, I've asked for peoples opinions, I can guarentee if I ask you where I should avoid in England you could tell me in a heart beat, all I want is for people to give their opinion, like the person above you said she moved to oz in 1986 but only seatlled somewhere she liked in 2002 now if someone had avoid this area or this area is nice then perhaps she would have not had to move around, that's what I want peoples opinion experiences.

Oh and I had steak last night for dinner mmmmm.

Thanks Sion we were also looking at Adalaide and think it would be perfect perhaps I should have asked were the best places are to live there seen as most the people have struggled to understand my question but hey.
