My mind boggles sometimes ... Welcome to BE!

Expat Shield is OK for downloading stuff but I've shelled out for a UK-based VPN and it's so much better for about a fiver a month.

The only thing I want live is cricket commentary ...Everything else comes from elsewhere ad-free ...
If you want live cricket commentary then get the free smart phone app "Tune in radio". You'll pick up 5 Live radio with test match special on it plus many thousands of other radio stations across the world - no fee

Ta, I've been using that for a while now, it's probably the best app I own, TMS is sometimes regionally blocked though (along with other sports commentary) and this app doesn't get around that.

But with my VPN I can configure the iThing to bypass the regional blocking

Last time I looked TuneIn wasn't free on the iPhone but at 99 cents it's a no-brainer.

Yup, I do that too.

It means I miss out on all the adverts but them's the breaks ...

(edit) Not intended as a joke but I think it works quite well, will add to joke book.

Plenty of them now... Under the Smart TV banner in Aus.

Even my relatively old Panasonic can do it. I'd say it's a 3 year old model. I'd avoid them though as I dont think they are as codec upgradeable as dedicated media boxes.

If your tv doesn't do it you can buy a media box for < $100, plug the usb drive into this and then plug the media centre into the tv - all sorted

Some of them can stream wirelessly too negating the need for a stick.

My WD Live box should do it but it's flaky so I use the USB.

I also have the WD, don't bother with the streaming just use the usb. I've not come across a file it can't play.

That isn't myp2p, it's one of a number of copy sites, I wouldn't trust anything on there (viruses (virii?), trojans, all that).
