Australian Government Stimulus Payments

Re: Australian Government Stimulus Payments
I'm totally confused.
So there are 2 stimulus packages; the economic one and the household one. In what way are they different?
Hubby has been made redundant and he's been unemployed for 4 months now. Are we entitled to make a claim and how? maybe he can also apply for a concession card.
Also our son 19 is full time at tafe. Can we apply for ETR?
Can anyone shed some light?

I'm sure you aren't alone in being confused, Karen.
Have a re-read of the Go Matilda article, and ABCD's article, including the links to the Centrelink website.
If you are already receiving Family Tax Benefits you should have the Centrelink administered bonuses remitted to you automatically.
If you had a tax liability for the 2007/08 tax year and have lodged your 2008 Aussie Tax Return the tax bonus should also find its way to you automatically.
Hope this helps.

The Training and Learning Bonus may be relevant to this, although I haven't really looked that bit yet.

Thanks Alan
We use to receive FTB (A) but that was cancelled when hubby took a permanent job one year ago until he was made redundant in October. Shall he apply for this benefit again..

[quote=ABCDiamond;7289138]Normally that will depend on how long you been Australian Resident, but in some cases a special benefit is payable. You would need to approach Centrelink.
We've been in Australia for 19 months now. So you reckon he should visit centrelink to seek some form of assisatance.

On the assistance side of things, as you haven't been here for 2 years, then there are very strict rules as to what you can get depending on what you have etc.
But it never hurts to ask, unless you have thousands in the bank, and the staff laugh at you for thinking you need financial help

Have you lodged your 2008 Tax Return yet? Are you sure you are not entitled to FTB Part A or B?

Sorry - you are right. hubby told me he did receive FTB(A) for tax ending 30Jun2008. It was a one off payment as he did not ask for a fortnightly payment. Does this mean he will still receive this benefit when he will file his tax return for financial year ending 30jun2009. And both stimulus bonuses as well.

You should see if you can re-register for FTB, as the eligibility date is Feb 2009, and if you are deemed eligible for that date, then you will recieve a payment.
