How the frigging hell do you know what my situation was in England? Because you don't so please do not make assumptions.
On the wages we were on in the UK and where we lived, I am telling you that we could not have afforded it.
The government assistance here also helped pay our expenses for buying a house. We also earn more money in Perth than we did in the UK.
So before you say 'rubbish', think about what you say, you have no bloody idea of how we lived, where we lived and our situation.

A problem for people with GBP, but not a reason to say that Australia is the most expensive country in the world.
Your £190,000 house in Staffordshire is costing 6.9 times the average UK wage of $27,552 for full time male employees.
The same multiple in Australia would give a property of about $483,000.
So, something like this near the water
or this, in a not the best place area...

It basically doesnt matter if you dont believe our situation in the UK, it doesnt matter a bit because I know what it was FACT, and I know at the time we were living there during our married life, we could not have afforded it which was down to our PERSONAL circumstances.
Please stop guessing that you know me, you dont and you certainly do/did not know what we went through in the recent years to us leaving the UK.

England is a big place - sure I could have afforded one in the north of England, but oh I forgot, my job was in London.

Seriously, I'm sorry if I've offended you, it wasn't my intentions (my sarcasm always gets the better of me). I'll try to be more serious from now on.

Re: Australia the most expensive country in the World?
We had a recent, life-threatening experience at emergency at PMH. The treatment was appalling. They incorrectly diagnosed him and our son almost died. There was no evidence of the caring profession on the ward. There was no follow-up care. Thank God for HBF. I've since met others who experienced the same awful treatment. It sounds like some medical teams and wards provide proper care, but others are terrible. If I was worried before about any of my kids ever needing to go to hospital, I'm even more worried now.
Conclusion: Public health in any country is always going to be hit and miss at times.
It will be interesting to see how the NHS fares in the face of the necessary cuts that are coming in the UK.

I am on alot more money now than when I was in London, my travel card alone was about £45 a week and that was each for me and my husband.
I didnt mean to get shitty in my response, just got something I am worried about and I shouldnt have responded like that.

Sorry to hear about your issues. My experience of PMH is superb - same for RPH. My family and I received good and at other times, appalling treatment on the NHS in the UK.

We are still traumatized by what happened. It was a GP/pharmacist error, made worse by PMH not treating him properly. In the rehabilitation process, we've met other families who've had a very similar experience, as well as those who've been very happy.
I'm following up on various issues, because I don't want this to happen to anyone else. And before there are too many posts saying the same thing could happen in the UK, in our case it's not possible, as the drug the GP prescribed is banned for our son's condition in the UK, US, Cananda and many other countries. It is still allowed in Australia, though.

It is well-known that there are problems in the health service in WA, as in many parts of Australia and the UK. However, there is a very positive impression of PMH in the community, and you think to yourself, "at least the kids would be well looked after, if anything should happen". I no longer have that feeling, and in Perth, you can't exactly go to the other children's hospital, can you?

Is there any legal comeback, are you taking legal action?

One thing thats cheaper in OZ is land in the country, if you want to buy a farm or small acerage or lifestyle or hobby farm as they are called ,its alot cheaper in OZ especially once you get more then an hour past a capital city.
The housing and land boom is only in the large cities not so much in country OZ.

Re: Australia the most expensive country in the World?
We've met some great families having to deal with their kids' illnesses. One mum told me of a friend whose 17 year old son was sick, but she didn't want him going back to PMH. She managed to get him admitted to one of the adult hospitals and they were amazed at the fantastic quality of care they received, him as the patient, and her as the parent. It's hard to explain what we experienced, it was so horrible and callous. It added trauma on top of the trauma. I wonder how much counselling is ...

I'm glad it's the most expensive country in the world. I don't want to live in a cheap place anymore.
