Whether there is officially a recession or not is to some extent largely irrelevant. If people are losing their jobs, getting hours cut and potentially losing their homes the fact that there is a recession or not is unimportant. If you are working and earning good money it also doesnt make any difference, it just comes down to what the official figures show.

Thanks, they shouldn't. There are loads of casuals and fixed term peeps who will get it before ongoing staff like me. Part of me wants to get the arse though as I've been there 10 years - my payout would be pretty big.

Loads of fixed term staff are still waiting to hear if their contracts will be renewed, they all expire December 31st.

Also talking to mates who run businesses, people are taking longer and longer to pay their bills. Lots of small businesses going under here in WA.

You can see it in the expectations of the unemployment rate to rise;

seems they haven't learned from the US, UK or Japan

Those who overborrowed bringing down another economy, while those who saved get shafted

Indeed. 13,900 more jobs were created in Australia last month and the unemployment rate dropped to 5.2%. Surely that's positive?!

Why? How many loose jobs but are not counted. The real unemployment rate is never cited.

I agree very unfair to the cautious and rewarding those with little to lose.
