Very hard to endure, summer in particular - extreme weather.

Odd thing is people can imagine cold being awful but rarely expect extreme heat to be a pain till you experience it. UV levels of 13 daily hardly enhance your outdoor time either Another factor nobody thinks of till they start getting the skin cancers chopped off.

I found my uk winters a similar level if not more extreme experience than my Australian summers.

As it's been snowing constantly for the last 24 hrs,and is minus 14c,I would swap life on the Prairies for life on Oz at this very moment, but when the storm is over and the sun comes out again it'll be the most beautiful place on earth again .We made our choice and are more than satisfied.
Although property has increased a lot in the last few years out here you still get a lot more bricks for your buck compared to the U.K.
HGV mechanics are in demand without doubt, the Regina Kenworth dealer has just been to England in an effort to recruit 30 guys,do know how successful they were? Custom Kenworth, check their website.

People find it easy to imagine how really cold weather could be a problem but not hot weather. Maybe it's because we come from a place with a long winter, so it's not a great leap of the imagination, but we can't begin to imagine what persistent extreme heat is like until we live through it. And you have to be very careful about the sun strength because it's many times stronger than what we get at home. I enjoy living in Australia but I find the weather harder than when I'm in Britain, but I always preferred cold weather so I am a fish out of water.

Yeah, it's horses for courses. We lived in Canada all our lives (well and hubby for 20+ years) and never did like the winters--it was something to endure, put up with, dread, complain about. We've been through two Aussie summers now and prefer it to Edmonton winters. At least here, at some point in the day (morning or evening), it is cool enough to go for a walk, play with the kids in the park, be out in the garden. There is no point during a cold snap in Edmonton where the temp will go from -30 to -5 daily in time for a walk.

100% agree with this. I couldn't hack the heat in Oz. having said that I can't really claim to hack the cold in Canada either - I live in the least cold part of it.
