I always thought most/all of AC/DC were children of Brits who emigrated to Adelaide. Angus Young and Bon Scott were Scottish - I don't know the other members but I just remember that as a kid. It is interesting how many other bands had British Expat members such as the Easybeats, Twilights, Masters Apprentices and not to forget solo artists such as John Farnham and Ted Mulry (RIP) etc.

As for my favourite Aussie rock band - Midnight Oil - music with a conscience as well as a beat.

Howzat! You are obviously old enough, have a heart of gold, come from a land down under, have got friday on your mind and most people you know think that you're crazy! You probably take your holidays in the april sun in cuba too! Unfortunately Mark Hunter is 'out of the blue and into the black' as Neil would say. I didn't get a JPY in there but take a look at me I'm yesterday's hero.

Yep, yep yep, love it!! But I have to admit, not quite old enough for Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs & the EasyBeats, I was only about 4 or 5 when they were around (late 60s I think?). But all the rest, know em all.

We bought a 5CD set of 70s hits a couple of months ago, one whole cd of aussie artists, like the ones I just mentioned - pure gold!

~Hey Hey, My My, Rock & roll will never die~

Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs - Silly Twerp and the Spastics we used to call them (no offence intended to anyone that wouldn't be regarded as PC these days!).

I had a big collection of singles from 60's and 70's which I put onto tape and latterly onto CD. I will occasionally play them and relive the innocent days (?) of my youth. Each time I'm back in Oz I usually manage to buy compilation CD's as well as more recent things such as Paul Kelly - Leaps and Bounds brilliantly evokes aspects of Melbourne which 'I remember'; To her Door (did they ever get back together?) etc, etc

The Easybeats were good and they gave rise to lots of other acts - JPY was produced by Vanda and Young; they had a group called Flash and the Pan (down among the deadmen about the Titanic - great).

I can also remember seeing a lot of great groups and acts in my days at Melbourne University - Max Merritt and the Meteors, Wild Cherries, Masters Apprentices, Twilights etc, etc.

I'd better stop, I'm getting 'a tear in my glass eye' with all this nostalgia

The 'Weld' video and tape of mine have both nearly worn out!

Dont remember Twilights, but play that funky music white boy I sure do remember all the rest. The Easybeats music I remember from when I was a child, heard it on the radio etc, even though my parents were big C&W fans rather than rock & roll. But far too young to be a groupie LOL, born in 64.

Watched Slims funeral a couple of weeks back & shed a tear or three, not something that most people would admit to, but Slim & Tex Morton & Buddy Williams were all a big part of my childhood.

Sorry, not rock & roll, I digress!

Ah Ted Mulry - how well I remember those cold days in September (right month?) Great ending to Jump in My Car - the 'bird' lives such a long way away its 'get outta my car' etc
Sadly Ted died recently, along with others such as Graham 'Shirley' Strachan - I'm livin' in the 70's etc.

We haven't mentioned Daddy Cool either. Eagle Rock was voted the most popular Aussie song of all time in 2000. Saw them at Melbourne University as well. Ross Wilson has been in other groups (Mondo Rock) and soloed and produced and written eg for John Farnham and others.

Gotta go, I'll return to my youth on Monday
