Aussie Rock
Now rock is the new dance what is your favourite Aussie Rock Band?
For you AC/DC fans the link below might bring back a bit of nostalgia. To me they epitomise Aussie rock. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/...631502999.html |

Actually the first member in that band (who formed Ac/DC along with collin ,larry and Malcolm Y) was Welsh, bet you never knew that!... :D Dave Evans (AC/DC fans here :) ) |
Same with the Bee Gees they are british Aussies. Still both were discovered down under.

Well has to be INXS - I first bought an album in 84 (ish) - 'Listen Like Thieves' and my friends used to tell me to 'turn off this crap'. About 3 years later INXS made it big in the UK and they all went out and bought 'Kick'!!
I haven't followed them since Hutchence's death. I used to like Crowded House......but aren't half of them Kiwis? AC/DC - that's just noise to me!! |

I don't think she's got over the death either..lol Personally I think he was a weirdo, and he needed a good hair cut... obviously Paula never bought the KMart clippers (only for her own hair), as all good Aussie women do. cheers:) |

I really like Powderfinger.
And I liked the last 2 albums of Silverchair. Don't know what you mean about rock being the new dance?? I've always liked 'rock' best, and rock seems to have been more popular in Australia over the last years than Europe. Well, Perth anyway. When I came from Perth to Holland in 1996, Nirvana and stuff was still pretty big there, and here in Holland I got the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Captain Jack and House, among other terrible things! ;) I heard about a Perth band called the Waifs by the way. They should be good, and they won a award thingy and toured Australia with Bob Dylan. I have to get my bfriend to download it from somewhere! |
As long as John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes have retired I'm happy....
Aussie has produced some good rock over the years, but it's also produced some pretty dire stuff.... |

What with Bon Scott, Malcom & Angus Young all being born in Scotland. :D http://aundj.kellner.bei.t-online.de/rock/band.htm Diverging but did anyone see the 'Long Way to the Top' concert recently - either live or on TV (60's and 70's revival concert)? My parents sent me a tape of it and it certainly brought back some great memories. Sad to see the state Stevie Wright was in but he still did 'Evie' brilliantly. At Melbourne Park where they have a poster of all the concerts that have been there since it opened they had a big banner which all the artists signed (wonder what it would be worth - I just took a pic of it!) You're the Voice, That's Freedom, Age of Reason ..... etc, great songs. JB's 'Working Class Man' at the Sydney Olympics was brilliant. Khe Sanh was voted the 2nd or 3rd most popular song of all time in Oz. We'll beg to differ. |
Khe Sanh - oh yeah now your talking.
btw was barnes a scottish/Aussie? |
ok, without oz there would be no ac/dc and thats where they were from. try not shouting "ANGUS" after THAT guitar rift!
wanna tell you a story....... ;) |
