We are in the UK, visited in June. Glad you like it, we didn't. In fact we were generally disappointed with SE Qld (we thought Brisbane was a hole), much preferred Western Australia & have now decided to settle there instead.[/QUOTE]

OK, sorry, I do get a bit passionate about where I live as I did come originaly from the arse end of the world, have a good one neighbour, Roz

yeah sure , we do not have surf, but we may not want it! there is more than the lagoon, course and shelly sand and surfless flat water, (actually, I have seen surfers on it when we get the arse end of the cyclones) really! however, the penninsula offers us good breezes on three sides in a hot summer, beautiful sunsets and sunrises (they happen regardless of surf) easy access to Moreton Island, straddy and a few others, we do not have the hussle and bussle of Brizzy (but can have it if we wish, just a 30min drive, and yeah, an hours drive in any direction from Redcliffe takes you to the Sunshine Coast (surf beaches) the Gold coast (surfers paradise etc) and to rain forests if yoiu wish.......Everyone is entitled to their own opnion, and to chose where they live and enjoy this wonderful country, catcha, R oz

Have been out here since February this year so still a newby. Arrived in the 40 degree heat! My husband had never been out here before so he had a bit of a baptism by fire, but it didn't put him off and he loves it as much as I do. How long have you been here?

If it is me you are asking....? We have been back in Aus for 4 months now. I grew up here (Pine Rivers area) but my husband is from Wigan. I used to live in Narangba at one time.

This is Roz from Oz,s sister still sat in the arse end of the world which just happens to be the Manchester area. Hoping to be in Redcliffe by Christmas or just after. Good defence of Redcliffe Roz, people who slag it off are most probably snobby southerners. LET THE BATTLE COMMENCE!

lived there for a few years until quite recently, I escaped from the place.lol.. the front is teaming with cheap cafes, and chip shops.. the beautifying is council spending money on wooden benches and stuff.
The so called beaches are shallow and small. The whole area is a police spot .. you're more likely to be pulled by a police car in Redcliffe for not wearing a seatbelt, or doing 5 k's over the limit than anywhere else. The Hornibrook bridge was recently named one of the worst blackspot roads in Brisbane.

The area has one of the least public space in Brisbane per person.
Sorry the area is just tacky. and looks like the worst tacky seaside village in England. It's all false.. no real beauty,

You will not get any real beauty coastal spots in Brisbane - you need to go further up the coast sunshine coast way .. Brisbane and beaches don't go into the same sentence.

As for property tripling in price ... most places in Brisbane have - I was here before the boom and I'm here after it. Redcliffe boomed when property got expensive close to Brisbane, and people wanted to live next to the water.. so they moved further out to the cheaper areas like Redcliffe .. knock on effect.

each to their own.. but to be honest I know where you're coming from.. in no amount of imagination would I call Redcliffe beautiful, or those beaches - real beaches.

I personally preferred NSW ( newcastle surrounds etc.. Port stephens etc) myself, when I moved to Brisbane I too was most dissapointed at the whole of Brisbane . I find it too crowded, too tacky. Too dirty ( dirt swept under the carpet.. when it comes to environmental matters.. won't go into it)
