Funny none of these issues brought up by Abbott's Tories. Asylum seekers a convenient smoke screen. Of course will the use of charged words such as illegal immigrants will win over the proletariat.
You don't consider for one minute this government listens to what people really want surely.

Re: An apology to asylum seekers
Strange that you see it that way. Europe's borders have been surrendered to the control of people smugglers and many people are dying at sea. Under the labor/green coalition the same was happening in Australia and quite rightly, Australians voted for it to be halted. Unlike in Europe, the elected government here is carrying out the will of the majority of voters.
Shouldn't we really be asking why Europe is allowing it to happen?

Any particular place in mind? Hardly Australia which is selling out by the day.
You don't refer to the old homeland, surely?

Uh no. You posted that rubbish. You defend it.
I've got even better than that for you!
A pretty good democracy? A pity they fail at the first hurdle and don't push for the democratic mandate then - the consent to govern. And after that you still excuse them for their gravy train and corrupt policies. So is there anything that don't you like about the EU?

They actually do a pretty decent democracy in what you term socialist Europe. Despite the high costing EU gravy train and certain corrupt policies.

I'll take that as an admission you're wrong - about as close as you're ever likely to get to self knowledge I guess.
Oh god, not THAT old one! Why is it that the extreme right wing, god botherers always have to reach for the lecture and the professor when they try to construct a massively incorrect strawman? Is it somehow striking out at actual knowledge? "I don't need no stinking facts and book knowledge, I've got a slogan!" And having Reagan able to string two sentences together without an autocue - it's almost as if they want to be laughable!
Why don't we build a little strawman in reply - give all the wealth, all the power, everything - to one man. That is, after all, the logical conclusion of the world the "Oooo, socialism is bad" crowd would like. Would that world work? Would you want to live in it - because, dum dum dum that world is known as a dictatorship and it's people are dum dum dum SLAVES!
See, it's easy to do. Talking b*ll*cks usually is.

You certainly appear to be well practiced at it!

For a considerable period the poorer south and Eire benefitted greatly from EU expenditure. Even parts of Britain got payments.
In an organization so big mistakes have been made. Namely the expansion since 81. Especially the admission of former Eastern Bloc countries, was even a greater mistake.
Certain rules around conformity amount to five bob each way.

Nothing wrong with a fairer distribution of wealth. Something very wrong in a system where the top 1% get ever wealthier and have more than the bottom quarter.
Not like they worked for it or anything as remotely proletarian. The new Russia being a good example of unimagined wealth falling into the hands of a few. A result of privatisation and crooked deals and corruption.

Is that really fair on those who have worked damn hard to get where they are?
I was watching the ABC breakfast show this morning and they were talking about the new star wars films. The presenter bird kept harping on about "Hasn't George Lucas got enough money already? Why does he need more?" she kept banging on about it until someone kindly put her in her place "he sold the franchise to Disney" - again what's her beef with making money?

That kind of smacks of "I want what you've got and I'm pissed that I'm never going to get it"
