Hi all

Just seen this thread, originally from Lisburn been in Melbourne for about 5 months, and struggling a bit, hopefully things will get better soon, my Aussie wife and me are not sure if we made the right decision heading back to Oz, as we both sort of wanted to move to Belguim as we love it there, so might not be in Melbourne for much longer

I'm English and my hubby is from N Ireland (Glengormley). We moved to South Australia in January 2007 with our 12 yr old daughter. It would be great to meet up with some of his fellow countrymen and if you have any questions about SA, feel free to ask and we'll try to help.

By the way, we love it here, especially now that summer's arrived!

Hi tommoe570,

can you tell me how your 12 year old is getting on? It's just I have one also and she so does NOT want to go I'd be interested to hear how she is getting on and if she made friends easlity enough, etc.

Glad you are well settled. We are awaiting pre-ack at the minute and it's slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww........... .................................................. .................................................. ..............

However I know its not that easy but best of luck.

Hi Guys,
Where abouts in south australia are you? we (me, the OH and 2yr old son) are hoping to move out there in April/May next year all being well
Quick question - where did you stay when you first arrived in SA? Did you have a rental pre-arranged or did you just stay in a hotel for the first few weeks?
Glad you are enjoying it - we can't wait to get out especially as the weather has been so dreadful here lately

All the best,
Sinead

Our daughter has settled in at school really well and made lots of new friends. She says that the kids here aren't as 'clicky' as they were back home and they all just muck in together so no one's left out.

When we first got here we lived in a rental (no animals allowed in a lot of them - for those of you bringing pets). We signed a 12 month lease, even though we knew we'd be looking to buy a house, so when we handed our notice in to the Landlord a few months later, we were a bit shocked to find out that we had to keep paying full rent until they found a new tenant! We didn't know about this rule and weren't made aware of it when signing on the dotted line.

We're living in the Greenwith/Golden Grove area. We're about half an hours drive from the beach and 40-60 mins drive away from the city, depending on traffic. We're not out in the sticks here by any means but we spotted a kangaroo tonight while walking the dog!

If you want any more info just ask either on the thread or you can PM me.

Hi All

This thread has been very quiet lately. Any northern Ireland people out there?

We had our medicals today with a Dr Mcmaster in Coleraine and had our Xrays last Tuesday in coleraine as well.

The Doctor was very throrough and very pleasent.

We are still waiting on a case officer but hoping to hear something very soon.

Get some more posts on this thread seems very quiet.

We have on house on the market now (been just over a week now), though we will not complete (if we get an offer) until Visa is granted. The market is quite slow not, but it all depends on what we are willing to accept shoudl we be granted the visa and have not sold by then. How much would we be willing to lower the price to ensure we had the cash from the sale before going? Who knows?

Hi Camacazi

Thanks for the good luck I have a funny feeling we will be needing as much luck as possible.

We would love to have the house sold by march but I think we are being very optimistic but who knows.
