Just wondered what other peoples experiences have been with airlines.
We will be flying from London to Brisbane travelling with 2 children, aged 4 and 10 months.
Just wanted to know what airlines you would avoid or use!!

I only travel business class long haul, I avoid the ones that only have a recliner and not the fully flat bed. I refer to the seatguru website to see what the seats are like on each aircraft per airline.

Your kids wont care which airline you use, and for you, I would say that if you are going cattle class then they are all pretty awful, but if you travel business then you can be selective and everyone has their own favourite. I would guess though that the cost of travelling in business with kids would be horrendous, so go economy and choose the airline that offers the fastest journey,as with some cheaper flights on that kind of route you could find yourself with terribly long waits if you need to change planes on the way. I would suggest you go with BA/Qantas, you can then do it with just one stop

...Noting that Malaysia and Thai are generally not quite the same quality of product as Cathay and especially Emirates & Singapore (though price tends to reflect this).

Thai has won awards for its economy class before and is 4* rated like Emirates.

Malaysia would definitely be on the list of airlines I would consider, as would Cathay. Thai and Emirates would not be based on the business class seat.

..and thats reflected in the prices. Theres rarely any more than a bee's dick between all those airlines in their pricing. BA/QF are often cheapest, SQ can be cheapest, other times Malaysian, Thai, Emirates or Etihad will be cheapest..... You pay your money, you sit in one place for 24 hours... discomfort is guaranteed whoever you fly with....

And of course the whole experience with any airline can come down to imponderables such as the crew or plane on the day and whether or not it is full.

Absolutely...crew are very variable, I'd say particularly on BA, Qantas and Emirates off that list. People's experiences also come down to things like they were really exhausted at the time, then that airline becomes a 'never again'.
