Guess we'll have to see where we get jobs etc.

Choosing where to live is a very personal thing. Personally I much prefer the south to the north , but that's where the jobs are.My hubby is a print finisher. We decided that we'd rather live in the south and hubby would have to spend long hours commuting - we choose Woodcroft - because it was right for us and we felt at home.We got more for our money because we were inland, but it's only a 10 min drive to the sea.

Dont stay in Glenelg, it looks nice and has a beach but dont be fooled at night it turns into a party area, lots of clubs and pubs ensure you will have a steady stream of loud drunks moving past your house. I lived for nearly a year there and left this july.

I used to get woken up at 3am on a regular basis with groups of drunks outside. It looks like a quiet sea side town during the day but at night it just gets crazy.

Speaking to the locals they say the areas north of the city are the best to live in. To be honest though adelaide is a bit grim, its a very grey depressing looking city I found. Since moving to perth everytime I mention to anyone that we lived in adelaide they all say, oh dear I bet your glad to have got out of there, and they are right !

We are in the North in the Golden Grove area, like many have said before it is totally a personal thing and there have been many arguments when North versus South is mentioned, to us the North had more to offer, easy access to the City including the Oban, more work potential, nice houses at reasonable prices, excellent schools etc etc etc, but equally people think the South has all the above to, so guess my advice is get out there and take a long old look!!

Each to their own, I have met two different families come from Perth to Adelaide in the last few weeks as they hated Perth and felt it was boring and houses to expensive, etc etc, so like I say each to their own!! Personally how anyone can say it is a depressing looking city escapes me as when I drove in today with clear blue skies, I thought it looked great!!

Totally agree with you about Glenelg at night. We stayed in the Stamford hotel on the seafront for our wedding anniversary.Bloody hell - was woken up at 2 by the drunks outside - they finished shouting and fighting at about 5!!!And we were on the 7th floor!!!!!
