Yep but i think the idea of using a reefer is that you make use of the return shipping of the reefer (i.e the refridgeration unit inside the container isnt actually switched on) therefore the container is of slighty smaller volume hence a cheaper price.

I think

But isn't that right due to the amount we import they often go back to oz empty, so PSS get a good rate for using them? Obviously they go back at normal temp.

I would avoid using Refridgerated Containers (Reefer) for Personal effects. Remember they will have been carrying Food Stuffs etc which are to be kept a t a certain temperature. Sometimes you do get residue of dampness and odours.

just wanted to say thanks especially to john who was polite and was easy to speak to on the phone even to a dumb woman.

tel monday afternoon had 2 quotes back by 3pm so was really impressed.

spoke again this am and he knew who i was and answered my questions so this dim wit understood them and gave really good advice about my grandads clock and how to take it to oz. which no other company has bothered to do
so thank you

Thanks for the reply Chris but a wee bit too late. I work for German company and understand all about server problems. Arrangements now in place with Crown, who I have to say have been marvellous so far!

Good luck with your new venture.

Just had quote from Pickfords of £3700 sole use of 20ft or £3500 groupage.

They want full payment 7 days before which is a bit awkward so will have to ask for early release of exchange monies or grovel to the bank

To all those who've used PSS (who are coming to quote end of wk)-did they want full funds up front or did they take a deposit and balance on pickup?

Cheers

My company just got a quote from Davies Turner at just over £5K for a 20' + insurance.

I can't find anyone on here who has used DT for Oz. Our company has used them for USA-UK moves and they have been very good, but not the cheapest.

Any advice on DT to Oz gladly received...

BTW the price also includes making and treating a special wooden case to protect my large fish tank.

Out of interest....are the prices you are quoting including all packing in UK and delivery to final address in Oz plus unpacking?
