20ft container quote
#16
Hi
Try PSS they do come round and you will find lots on here used them and were happy. Pickfords were expensive over £5k for us and we got a quote from the company with the cat log cant remember but they are not recommended I only found that out after doing a search.
Lots of companies do half container you are limited though as you need to be ready when someone else is etc. Why dont you advertise on here for someone else who may be going at the same time as you and to the same place thats been done before? Dont forget you may also get landed with problems with aqis if the person you are sharing with isnt as stringent with their cleaning etc.
When we brought our shed stuff we used heaps of bleach etc and wrapped stuff in plastic, nothing was confiscated. Xmas tree we cut off pines cones etc. We took a lot of time and care into ensuring our stuff could come. Bought a new vacuum cleaner etc. Why dont you bring your car and fill up the container? I wish id brought ours as we sold our people carrier for peanuts before we left and i miss it all the time. we bought a car here but it has cost heaps. This is one of the things i would do differently if i had known.
cheers Irene
Good luck

In order to load the container you would have to drive your car to a depot where they would drain it of petrol and hold it in place in the container with lashings to limit the movement in transit. From there on in it is just like a normal export to Australia. pretty straight forward all in all.
Hope this helps!

You would need a dedicated 20ft gp container, as cars can't really be shipped as groupage cargo due to damage that can be incurred in transit.

Your colleague quoted me double the other companies and when I asked him about the Migrate 2 package I got no response. Shame as we really like your marketing/presentation etc.

We have been quoted £2070 for a one bedroom flat to perth with excess baggage this is door to door and they pack it for you and unpack it at the other end. This doesn't include insurance and is groupage so it will be delivered in 8-12 weeks.

Are PSS the only one's that use Reefers? They quoted us a lot less as they said about using a reefer, no other company so far has mentioned them. It's a saving of roughly a grand.

to be honest not 100% sure, somebody will put me right. . It's a refrigerated container that has been used to ship imported goods into the country, but normally go back empty. What they do is use them to ship our goods back. They are slightly smaller than a 20 foot container. Something like that anyway.

stuckinblighty...Soz.. when i said it was a grand cheaper that was between other companies quoting us a 20 foot container and PSS quoting us on a reefer. PSS quoted £3700 for a 20' and £3200 for a reefer. Other companies quoted us £4200 with no mention of a reefer.

A normal 20 ft container is 1050 cubic foot whereas a reefer is about 800 so i was informed yesterday

A reefer is a refrigerated container. These are generally a lot more expensive as lines charge a premium to use them. To be honest with you, if its just personal effects you are shipping, a standard 20ft gp is okay. Reefers are only used by companies wishing to ship cargo at a certain temperature.
If anyone requires anymore info please pm me I work in shipping, and will be happy to help

Sorry to be thick but what's a reefer?
