about the school question - I think I'd agree with ononno. The 3 years and then an apprenticeship and then hopefully a job. But its difficult to say whats the right thing these days. Mine leaves school next year, he's at Itis doing Informatica - but I don't know whether there will be any jobs out there. He doesnt want to do Uni. I'm quite worried.

(Note to self: ask aunty to send you 20 quid in the post next time, it's easier)

Only if you want it nicked as it happened to the envelopes with money sent by Granny twice.....

Oh, and I had to do the reverse process when I sent money via Western Union.
It involved 40 minutes in the tabbacheria and 13 signatures.

Crazy bureaucratic country.

We had Amazon vouchers sent by our daughter nicked a couple of years ago. Luckily she was able to contact Amazon and get them stopped before they were used.

You indeed can, but note they are only valid for a year now (used to be 3) and in the country denomination sent from. We have this problem with a number of relatives both in Oz and the UK, just wish we had a/c numbers for them as a transfer these days can be very cheap.

Only just seen this, Patty. Son went to a experimental IT high school. It was abandoned due to the high drop out rates -his class started in 34 and finished in 16! The newest equivalent is the IT ITIS. He went on to uni, but all the student's who didn't found employment.
