Did you know that if you have a Kindle you can "borrow" books from some county libraries. Wake Co. NC is one. As many as you want but it's a 14 max period but you can always re up and if you do not turn your Kindle onto WiFi it stays there until you do, then they snatch it back. :~))

You don't necessarily need a Kindle, you just need a connection to the internet and preferably a mobile device .. many (most?) public libraries have an online book facility. Most are using the commercial company OverDrive. You can search for libraries that offer OverDrive here..
http://sonysearch.overdrive.com/
There might be other commercial vendors in the same business, but OverDrive is the one I know about.

Scam of the day:
Borrow 21 books that would cost about $10.00 each to buy.
Turn off wifi on Kindle and never turn it back on.
Buy new Kindle and repeat.
$10 profit every transaction, repeat until you are a millionaire, or library shelves are filled with Kindles.

Hmm, maybe saving $10, but not generating a lot of cashflow...unless you can barter your downloads out at the grocery store and gas station!

Perhaps your tongue is in your cheek but, Kimo Sabe, Tonto no comprende.
Who are you selling these books to or where is your cash in stream? At $80 a kindle that's going to cost.

You can do that with tangible books too.
Get a library card in each public library to which you are entitled. (For instance in Massachusetts, the world's public library mecca, any MA resident is entitled to borrowing privileges at any and all MA public libraries.)
Go to each library and borrow books and never return them, until you are banned.
You are now in possession of hundreds of thousands of books, with a street value of maybe a million dollars or more.
Rent a large U-Haul and retreat to your cabin in the woods.

Do they still have book recovery officers? That was a full-time post when I was in Camden.

I'd watch it. It'd have to be on PBS, probably.

That is coming together quite nicely. Bollocks, I wish we all lived in the same general area - I could put together a 'radio' style show and record us all playing the parts
