My Kentish friends, ( Southern Jessies ) say first, being from the manly North we put the milk in last.
I always put it in last, so I can tell by the colour when I've put enough in.

Tetley is OK because you can say it with a Yorkshire accent, therefore it's tops, by 'eck.

Milk last. I am not a tea snob, but it has to have more tea leaves than most American bags have, and can not have an umbilical cord attached. I am Tetley British Blend too.

Depends.

Making a proper pot of tea - milk goes in first
Making a "single" in a mug - milk goes in after the bag comes out.

I don't make pots much anymore, no one else drinks proper tea.

Neither do I! that's why I had to think about it so long.

OK , now I think about it, they are brewing tea in a pot. I understand the tea has to be brewed hot, but what difference would it make putting the milk in later ?

Like Sultan I go for the colour, which is difficult to do when the milk goes in first. When I stay at my friends house, they always let me finish off my own tea They also mock me for using 1 sugar.

This as gone on for 30 years

There are a couple of British mums around who wander over when they need a decent cuppa - seems they can't make it themselves...from the sounds of it they would be regular contributors to the cooking disasters thread.....

I always put zero fat/skimmed milk in last because I like strong, dark tea. Hate milky tea.

Don't think it makes any difference when you're making a pot to be honest - just the way I've always done it. Think it was probably cos mam didn't like a bottle of milk on the table, and I couldn't be arsed to dirty a jug!

Obviously does make a big difference for a mug though..

Just waiting for some ponce to come along and start talking about lemon
