Price of gas update...

Re: Price of gas update...
As you can see from the following 1 year charts, the average price of gasoline futures (red line) was on a downward trend for over six months as crude oil prices shot upwards starting in October but only since the middle of December, gasoline futures (blue line) has been on an upward trend.
Gasoline futures.

Crude oil futures.

Therefore there was a disconnect for about 1 1/2 months between the price of crude oil and gasoline and now gasoline prices are rising quickly to make up for that discrepancy.

With natural gas prices at record lows at $2.77 per 1,000 cubic feet, you would think that it would now make sense for people to convert from fuel oil heating of their homes to natural gas especially New England.
However, delivery is where the big cost is for natural gas and if the wellhead is not near or the delivery system is not adequate, the price is still high. Even in California, the residential price is still about $10 per 1,000 cubic feet but about double that amount in New England.

Hopefully with all that fracking in Pennsylvania going on, delivery systems will get up to par for the New England states to get off fuel oil for home heating.

Re: Price of gas update...
It is a steady $3.35 around my area just outside of Boston. Funny thing is though that most gas stations here advertise a cash price which is what qualifies for the $3.35. Paying by CC you can expect to add upwards of 10c a gallon
However we get a good deal with Stop and Shop. We use the mobile scan it service in the store and build gas points. For evvery 100 points we get 10c of a gallon. the fact that we only have to fill up once a month, and accrue approx 400 points for each fill up, we often pay less than $3 a gallon. a month ago i paid $2.85
They also do not have a cash price, so they are $3.35 regardless of payment method.
Love it

It's been flip flopping a penny or two every day around here it seems.
BJ's though is at $3.33G at the moment. The nearest cheapest besides them is at $3.35 whilst most places are around $3.45

Wonder why some states do that? So annoying when you pull in thinking you will be getting a good price only to see it jump up by a dime a gallon just because the payment option is not cash.

Next town over is a good 15c more expensive and that's only a couple of miles away, which is crazy.

Re: Price of gas update...
Your town must have gas stations across the street from each other or easily accessible on main streets where as the other town may have few gas stations or are scattered about in relatively hidden places.

Re: Price of gas update...
Where I am, there is a Gulf station literally opposite side of the road to BJ's that till today where it went down in price, had on average been 20c more expensive, but that technically is just over the town line and is in another town.
So it is very weird as I'd have expected it if it were as you describe.
