Was thinking that a comfort meal would involve many of the things from my Dad's garden, fresh corn on the cob-butter and sugar variety please, romano beans cooked with new potatos, swiss chard, one of the rare times I;d be happy with all veg.

Have you been to the Angus Grill, just a little bit further along Westheimer? Same style, but lower key - not quite as good, but they do a lunch session for about 12bucks, which is awesome value. Used to meet the other half there occasionally when she worked in the Galleria.
We go about 3 or 4 times a year. I didn't eat breakfast or lunch in preparation. I haven't done others. I'm not sure I want to find a cheaper one - the price keeps me going only a few times a year!

Forgot to mention, if you to Central Market, they do British Bangers, by custom order, 24 hr turn around. I haven't tried other HEBs for them, just Central Market downtown.

This is TODAY'S GROUPON... essentially half price, though you have to have at least two people at the table: http://www.groupon.com/deals/angus-g...churrascaria-8

I don't know what it is about US sausages, but they just don't taste right to me, and what's all this about boiling them instead of frying?! Pfft!

I've found a decent compromise in Johnsonville Stadium Brats. Quite a tasty pork sausage that makes an awesome hotdog.

Now if only I could find some Galtee...

Oh and a banana sandwich, mashed bananas on toast, or just plain toast

Cindy - think you hit the wrong thread - "How to eat Healthy after all that comfort food" is next one down

You'd get on with my wife....her idea of comfort food is a bowl of edamame or stewed soybeans and/or black beans.....

Hubby's comfort food is fish, chips and mushy peas. Mine is grilled cheese and crumpets/pikelets, cheese or beans on toast.

My new comfort food is the taco soup that my wife makes for me from an old family recipe, UK was stew and dumplings, I have introduced Yorkshire Puddings to my new family and they all love them, home made to my mums recipe, throw the flour in a bowl, guess the egg and milk/water mix, get the oil smoking and away you go......
