The drums of war are beating hard and fast, come hell or high water the NeoCons will get their war. The Gulf Arabs are also itching to overthrown Shia Iran and Shia Allawite Syria and replace the latter with a Sunni pro Saudi Regime.
Western Media , particularly in America, will play along and sell the war to public, just like with Iraq.

Unlike Iraq though the west seem to have little inclination to send ground troops, which could be better or a lot lot worse

Someone made the interesting point that there quite a few battle-hardened troops still in Afghanistan.

The elections are far away..but seriously..Republican candidates are all making Sarah Palin look credible.

Conservative grass roots can't stand Mitt Romney, because Romney is seen as the quintesential RINO (Republican In Name Only) and just Obama lite. RomneyCare , the universal health care he passed as Governor of MA was the blueprint for ObamaCare. The latter ellicts a lot of opposition from conservatives.

So the GOP grassroots has latched on to every hard right dog whistling candidate soo far , from Bachmann to Mr 999 and then Gingrich.

Sarah Palin is still a GOP grass roots favourite even if the snooty country club conservative inteligentsia would rather she quietly go away.

They should just nominate Rush Limbaugh and be done with it


All in all , Obama , Romney or Gingrich are all beholden to WallStreet , the Big Banks and the pro war crowd. Only real difference is that Obama is somewhat more reticent to jump head first into a war while the GOP candidates can't beat the war drums hard enough.

And the American Taliban would be complete. Let's fire up those nukes to speed up the rapture.

Where's Regan when you need him? The Republicans really need to sort their house out and field some decent candidates. Obama's not as wonderful as everyone things he is - he simply has no credible opposition.

And you're right about them all being pro-wall street. Corporatism, not capitalism is crippling politics and the long term economy. Being pro-war is a different issue - I'm not a pacifist and don't think the Neville Chamberlain method of diplomacy against states that openly and repeatedly declare their aim is the destruction of the west and it's allies is going to work. The question is how much force is needed and how soon.

All politics is force - anyone who disagrees doesn't understand how the world (or humanity) works.
