Re: So who's on the NBN?

Worth noting that those speedtests are going to different servers - one referencing Gold Coast, and one Sydney. That can make a big difference to the speed measured.

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Where you are looks that one way or the other you are looking at getting an antenna in a place where either you could pick up 4G signal, or wireless NBN. Might be worth doing a little research to see...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Personally I'd never trust Optus to not continue billing that $15.

It's Optus, and thus not reliable. Also the time to do a test is around now, in the evening peak, that's when it matters. Also...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

For 15 months max, till they kill off the ADSL part of the frequency spectrum and increase the FTTC signal. Not really a good move. And the problem is often the splits off to the other phone points...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

There are attempts at "Wifi Calling" to route mobile calls via home wifi - but typical of aussie carriers, they haven't done a good job of it. Can potentially help though if you don't get signal in...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

For $5 a month, it makes sense for me to keep the number active etc. That was particular true when I was on the Optus network and reception was dodgy. One day I'll get around to getting the PBX...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

I wouldn't give a second thought to leaving iiNet, and if Optus give you what you want then all the better. Assuming you are also on FTTC you should be able to work out what speed you are likely to...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Shouldn't worry about it, they just appear to talk crap.

With the NBNCo CEO jumping ship, even he is now admitting that the FTTN / mixed technology decision was a bad move, and that the coalition...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Two bits of NBN news:

First, Buzz Telecom has gone to the wall and is effectively no more - so if you were thinking of them, or indeed were with them, there are offers to move to other providers....

Re: So who's on the NBN?

So hang on, first you are AGAINST sane infrastructure build, then you are FOR it? Make up your mind!

You will remember that the reason the labor government did it was because the commercial world...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

And you are still laughably wrong - with basically nobody agreeing with your PoV.

But then again, you already knew that.

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Those still waiting for NBN, it's worth rechecking when NBNCo think they are going to get around to you. Recently they have updated their plans to switch more 'fakeband' FTTN to FTTC, and restart...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

One of the ways 5G is planned to be able to deliver more bandwidth is by segmenting the area covered by any one antenna into a smaller patch. Less area = less people = more frequency bandwidth to go...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Don't forget, if your neighbours don't have NBN it's closer to that 14W figure, rather than 6W, and it's in addition to keeping the modem/router running.

All this "turn off devices to stop...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Optus don't really get a look in on that end of things, it's if NBNCo make a mess of FTTC. Optus have apparently being getting better off the NBN CVC kick, but I'd still avoid them and they are...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

The whole NBN scene has changed over the previous year. Specifically

Last few days they basically admitted that FTTN was s**t and are moving towards switching places that were going to get FTTN...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Just to point out, Netflix will scale back what it sends you to match the practical bandwidth, and avoid dropped frames. And I doubt you were consuming 4K streams.

Issue is, to make all those 4K...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

There's bandwidth speed, and there's capacity.

100/40 can shift near 100Mbit per second of data.

100GB of data a month could be at any speed.

I've heard of those will a full family eating...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

NBNCo do appear to be pulling a fast one, or rather a slow one.

Since their cockup and move to FTTN there are a large part of new signups that can't physically get 100/40 or faster. So they have...

Yeah. Which is why you need a provider that works in the...
