No, but people visiting here from England want the touristy ........ Niagara Falls, Whistler, the Rockies. The people living here are almost incidental or a means of getting free accommodation.

We have been tourists in areas one or both of us had never been to before, and also to areas that one or both of us loved in our earlier lives

For example, in 1995 we drove along Hadrian's Wall...

We will have been in Canada for 49 years in August, and this has felt my home since soon after that.

We became citizens in early 1974, never renewed the Brit passport ............. in my mind,...

I'm not at all convinced that is true!

We live within a 10 minute drive of a major international airport .......... hasn't made much difference in the UK ones who visit and those who don't!!

We have one friend who has been to visit once, travelling with a friend who went on to see family in Victoria and then came back here to meet her for the return trip.

It's also to allow extra room to get the kids (especially ones in car seats) out of the car and into stroller or pram without banging up the car next to them. :nod:

We had been married 7 years before we had our daughter, out of choice.

I was always glad that no-one ever asked us if or why .... most unusual in that late 60s /early 70s time.

Keep the contact with them, and make an offer for them to come visit you when they can travel on their own. There is an age before which they cannot travel alone .......... and there is also an age...

we had our first true holiday in the UK in June/July 1995 ........... and by that, I mean 3 weeks in which we did what we wanted to do, and saw who we wanted to see.

Very quickly!

We left the UK for the US in 1967 10 days after our wedding, and arrived in Canada in 1968.

My dad visited us once in 1969, but died very suddenly in 1971. Our first visit back...
