We have some visitors coming over from Texas next week, whilst they are up in Gods Own Country we have recommended they go to Holmfirth (as much as it pains a NORTH Yorkshire girl to say that!)

We were supposed to be heading home this week and were planning on heading up to Yorkshire to watch the Tour de Yorkshire. Been delayed a couple of weeks so will miss it :(

I'm lucky though insofar as we don't live here, just spend a lot of time here, so I get best of both worlds!! Home is Hampshire though but I will be up in North Yorkshire...

Hubby was born in New Marske. We were up there on Boxing Day, after having a very foggy walk and drive across Blakey Ridge :lol:

It's interesting, that even though we're all from Yorkshire, how different it sounds. Mine was North and was brought up on a farm in the middle of nowhere, no coal mines, back to back houses etc. ...

We ate at the Park Hotel in Redcar - carvery - certainly different than lunch the day before!! ;) Apparently the vertical pier isn't too popular with the locals, they voted against it but it still...

Spooky!! We were in Helmsley on Boxing Day, lunch at the Black Swan (posh - so never called Mucky Duck!!!). Lunch next day in Redcar - one extreme to the other ;)
