Bye bye Liberal Government..... will you ever learn.

Re: Bye bye Liberal Government..... will you ever learn.
I know I live in Rednecksville but........ when I checked the votes cast at our local station the One Nation candidate won with 260 votes LNP 2nd with 186 & ALP 3rd with 130. Hard to imagine the One Nation candidate polling 50% more votes than the ALP one.
Mind as I heard one bloke say "Who'd vote for her [ALP] she's as ugly as a tin full of bums" So up here they vote according to looks

Am I reading this wrong? ALP ahead of the individual vote count?

2016 Federal Election - AEC Tally Room
No idea how they do things really. The have a small list of 'Not yet determined' seats but these include Higgins where the Libs have 50%+ of the primary vote and Grayndler where Albanese has won easily for the ALP.

What is a global theme is the rejection of mainstream parties with little blue water between them. Populist parties are in vogue as people seek solutions to falling living standards and ever deepening divides between the rich and the rest.
It is not the far right alone. The far left are equalling gaining in popularity.

I reckon the coalition has its 76 seats in the bag now, maybe 77.

Not sure any of the seats that have come down one way or the other were assumed differently on election night.
It looks like it's "13% chance of 76 seats, rather than 10% it was before", but no more than that as yet.
And it really doesn't matter, since either way the LNP would need to keep everyone in a row to have a majority - and the far right are looking to revolt. And then there's the senate.
Turnbull would be way worse off than Gillard was - she just had Rudd briefing against her.

Maybe but one thing that is certain is that the reporting on the count is, generally, hopeless - and the AEC website is the worst
All news outlets have different seat tally's as they stand - probably based on their political standpoints
The only one I'm following is the ABC's and their election guy seems to know what he's talking about - he's saying that the coalition has a chance to get an outright majority

The next Parliament should pass a law to automate the counting. Even some 3rd world countries use counting machines why can't we?

They could have had a SSM referendum on the same day, saving millions. If we have this government until early August, what difference does it make if another vote count adds a week or two?

If they win they will pull into line. They have no choice just like Labor has had no choice in the past 3 or so years.

Well. Not federal but interesting read none the less. For those in Sydney who have seen the recent mass development, a lot of it quite bland, but making some developers very wealthy in the process, some welcome news in my boat. And special thanks must go to Labor for the years of neglect.
