Default perming ?

hi all wondered if someone could help me i'm currently undertaking a nvq 2 hairdressing course and perming is a optional unit now. i don't want to do it as it's difficult to get models you have to do 3 different ones. you can do a day course in perming which i'd rather do but its only a certificate in perming not nvq. i've heard you have to have nvq to get into oz is this true if someone could let me no i would be most grateful cheers

Hi i run a hairdressing college and you are right perming is a optional unit. the other options that you have are afro and relaxing. to hold a full NVQ level II you will have to have all nine units so my advice to you is to do perming. one of the observations can be on a partial head. some of the learners at my college go to care homes and residential homes. they arrange for an assessor to go and do all three obs on one day. they find this an easy option as they all have difficulty finding perming models. one more tip i can give you is to get a tuition head some rods and end papers and practice/practice/practice.
Good luck
Carl
