Default Journalists, Communications Professionals

Is there a demand for journalists in Canada? What's the freelance market like?

I have two options when I come over, although in reality I'll do pretty much anything, when I arrive. Eventually I want to eikether get into journalism or communications...or if not I'll try for a job at the Alberta Government.

Am I being realistic? I have an idea I may be optimistic about the journalism route...
