Where to start??
Hi, we're Mel and Tom from Manchester and we're relocating to Perth in 5 months. We've been to Australia 3 times (to Melbourne and the Gold Coast) and we've decided that even though we've never been to Perth, we're going to emigrate there. We'd like it if people could send us ideas on where is the best place to live, and anything else you think we need to know (such as schools - we have 2 children aged 5 and 8) We would like to be quite close to the beach and near to good schools and a bustling community. Thanks.

This is just a place to introduce yourself, if you've any questions your best to post in the Aus side of the forum, but you might want to use the search first to see what info you can find about Perth as well as check out any info that might be in the wiki, which is located right up top in the pinkish bar

Welcome to the site.
As Bob suggested check out our wiki and be sure to use the search function if you are looking for something specific. Otherwise jump right in on the Australia forum. We've got a great bunch of members who know exactly what you are going through.

We are Tabs and Matt and we live in Helmshore just out of Manchester and have also made the decison to move,
we have never even been but just feel it is right!!
Maybe we could meet up for a drink and you can fill us in on your adventures?! Have you Visas sorted?
I am doing lots of research at the moment into everything as we need to get matt a job sorted before we go (if we get visa that is) he works in computors so is a bit more specific than I who can pretty much turn my trades to any location.

We are the opposite!! We have been to Perth but are thinking of moving to Gold Coast (even though we have not visited).
Why did you not fancy the Gold Coast? Are their any areas you can recommend?
With regards to Perth we visited everywhere on our reccie.
How far away from Perth City would you like to be? Also what is your house budget? as this will make a huge difference to my reccomendations. How far is not far from the beach? (walk/drive distance).
