Newbie
Hi we are new to this forum! myself and my husband were hoping to emigrate to either Australia or NZ as we have just recently come back from a gap year there travelling and just fell in love with it! We would be going on my husband's skills as a plumber and he has just got his IELTS test results today. We are a bit confused as apparently the Australian requirement is a minimum of band 7.0 in each components whereas the NZ website says an overall band score of 6.5. My husband received an overall band of 7.0. Australia was our first choice but they seem to put the goal posts to high. Its a shame they dont go off 'overall band' like appears to do. His points were broken down as follows:
7.0 Listening. 6.5 reading, 6.0 writing, 7.5 speaking = overall band of 7.0.
Does this mean we qualify under the NZ requirements for english?
We are feeling quite overwhelmed with it all as we are just starting out with the process. Any help/advice much appreciated!

Welcome to BE and good luck with this!
But this is just a introductory section to say hi.

You'll want to look through there, that's the Australian section and the immigration forum there is very helpful. Worth reading through and also checking the information in the wiki to see if any of your questions are already answered

I see between you and Alfresco that you've got the ball well rolling her at B.E. And so I'll simply bid you welcome, and greetings from Ontario, Canada!
With every good wish,
Christian
