New to Studio City, CA
Hi there. My husband and I have just moved from New York to CA. I am originally from Glasgow and have been in the US for 5 years. Having had no need for a car in NYC it's a bit of a change being in LA! My husband is a US citizen so is able to drive but I just absurdly failed my test after driving in the UK for 20 years (apparently i am not so hot at decelerating) and over here various times as a visitor! I am sure I will get there eventually but it is frustrating! I have thus far been doing LA New York style, ie using the Metro as my husband travels all week. It's a little limiting but better than nothing. I there is anyone nearby would like to get together let me know.

Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Hi Julie
Welcome to BE from me too.
Hey don't be too disheartened about the driving test, I'm sure you will pass next time with flying colours.
Hopefully you have found your way onto our USA forum now and you're chatting to some of the other expats in your neighbourhood.
All the best

Hi Julie,
I'm new around here too. Just moved to LA in April, so my wife and I still only have 1 car, which as you said can provide its own challenges in LA.
That said, welcome to the west coast.
