I am considering retiring to San Fernando area of La Union. I Don't know how safe it is from typhoons. Some say it is safe and others say that it gets some typhoons every year or two. There is also concern about safety. Should one look for a walled-in development with Gate house and armed guards and attack dogs to rent a house in or some other alternative?
I will also be looking to do volunteer work with one of the local Anglican ( Episcopal ) parishes in the area. I have done work with handicapped people and elderly in the U.S. and am still doing some as a volunteer here in U.S. Would like to do the same in Philippines.
\Any recommendations or comments welcome.
