Expat Living In TN!
Well hey everyone,
I'm actually 17 years old. I came to the US 7 years ago, and have lived in Tennessee ever since. It's been a great experience, but certainly not an easy though. I have grown a lot as a person, however. My accent still gets a lot of attention!
My grandparents live near Bournemouth, so I go there often.
Not sure what I'm doing on these boards, but I figured, why not?
Glad to see others like me!

My daughter was 11 when we moved here...it took years for her to gain an American accent. Now her accent changes depending who she's speaking to but she says she can't intentionally speak with a British accent. Are you staying here for uni or going back to the UK?
Whilst you're very welcome to join us on the forums I'd just like to point out the apart from The Youth Club Forum

Any other issues should be addressed to a moderator or admin. The mods for the US forums are Bob and MsElui. Although you can contact any mod or admin...there is usually one of us around 24/7.

Yeah, my dad is Zimbabwean, I was born in South Africa, and my mom is British! I've spent a lot of time in England too. So i tote 2 awesome passports... I never bothered getting the Zimbabwean one, I'm sure you can guess why!

Hi Jason
Welcome to BE.
Great to see some young blood joining in - it may help us oldies to think young !!
One thing's for sure - you could be a great source of good advice and help on the teenage forum for all those young folks who are off to live in pastures new.
Enjoy

Re: Expat Living In TN!
Thanks guys!
Yes, i'm about to get my US passport, we're applying right now, just became eligible. And yes, my parents will definitely naturalize. For a number of reasons... But we'll most likely travel with our (not my dad... poor him) British passports. We all know why.
So i'm like Jason Bourne. Collecting passports...!! YEAH!
Great way to get a girl "hey you, i got 3 passports... )

When you become a US citizen, the US will only see you as a US citizen. You are required to travel on your US passport in/out of the US, so be careful about flashing those multiple passports around so you don't make any trouble for yourselves. There's a bit of an art to it.

If you read the thread, my dad is Zimbabwean... so he can't get a British passport.
And right, it's going to be tricky, but i'm hoping we'll find a way through it all.

Welcome to BE. I've got a 17 year old, but he was 4 when we moved here so he lost his accent many years ago
Yesterday was his first day back at school after the hols and now he's a senior he painted his car windows with "Senior" and Class of 2010" .... however he also painted the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes on the windows as well
Anyway hope you enjoy being part of our community.
