Hi
We were lucky enough to visit Canada and Canadian relatives for a month a few years ago, when my daughter was 14. My daughter fall in love with the country and is hoping to emigrate once she finishes uni. She is absolutely determined and I just hope she does it.
We joined the forum to find out more about emigration. She is going to be a nurse and hopes to do a year at a uni in Canada as part of her course.
It is all in the future, of course, but she is really keen and is an extremely single minded individual. She is at college at present and is working harder than I have ever seen her work.
We have lurked around a bit and this forum seems to be the place to find out what is needed and how to go about emigrating.Just to add I am not living my dreams through my daughter, my OH and I have decided that emigration is not for us, too old and pensions and my health are too much of an issue. Just thought I'd add that because when I re-read it sound like I am living vicariously through my daughter.
Thanks,
D1gger.

My daughter went to uni in Toronto and loved it...so much so that she found a job and stayed there. Attending uni will certainly give more insight into life in Canada than a holiday.
I see you have already posted in the Canada forums.
The BE Wiki is a great source of information...I recommend you take a read through the Canada section.

Hi D1gger
Hey there is nothing wrong with supporting your daughter to achieve her dream, it's really nice to see someone so selfless, and also nice to hear of a young person with such a great sense of adventure and ambition. Good for her.
I definitly think you will find lots of useful information on our Canada forum, and have fun doing so.
That just leaves me to say welcome to BE and I hope you enjoy being part of our little cyber world.

My daughter spent 5 years at uni which allowed her to get a student work visa to work in Ontario for 3 years after graduation (not sure if she could work in the other provinces). She has just applied for permanent residency. I think a 1 year uni course allows the student to stay for 1 year after graduation. Again I am not quite sure but I think the uni and the course have to be approved to qualify for this. The peeps in the Canada forum will be able to throw more light on it for you. It's a great pathway to staying in Canada permanently.
