We rented one once, the seats were uncomfortable and didn't strike us as something we'd be interested in.....does that help?

Dont know anyone whose had bother and the engines are well proven now! I didnt even think the economy was as bad as i was expecting!

The engines are great, no question, they run forever...its the...

Tubes (they leak fluid all over the place after only a few thousand miles)
Transmission...by far the worst ever put in a vehicle of any kind
Brakes...you'll be amazed how long it takes to stop
Electrics...don't let it get wet, you'll turn on your heater and the radio will go off
Corrosion..Jeep are well known for rust, make sure you check undre the floor pans and under carpet...especially in the front foot wells, this is a hot spot for rust...

having said all that...if I had the chance to buy one for 6K, I'd buy it in a heartbeat...its one of the only (if not the only) cars that I've owned and missed when it was gone.

Buy it. Full Stop.

Jeeps are more than a car. I love my Jeep...

Buy it with your heart, not your head. It guzzles gas (but I live somewhere where gas is cheaper than water so that helps!) but I have had no reliablity problems...

Are you safe and want comfort? don't buy it. Are you into some fun and getting out a bit BUY IT!!!!

just don't get stuck...

Your in DXB mate, don't have to worry about snow, shite weather and lots of water...might be a great motor in the sand, but it's shite on wet environments and ice and really bad in snow.

Obviously no idea about cold starts.... but have been through couple of feet of water in it and it was fine. In the summer we have 90% humidity and it's fine.

It actually does struggle on fine sand where Pajaros and Land Crusiers look like they are on Sunday drives... but... I... hate.... to.... say.... it..... but Jeeps are Jeeps.... and I like it.....

for fun and to rag, but for an everyday runner, there well shite, and around here, they need to be sandbagged, just like the cherokee and any light pick-up or they'll just spin endlessly and are shite on bends...

Then you should have selected 4 wheel drive and the weight issue is no more as its not just the rear wheels working?

yeah, but those things with 4 wheel just spin on the spot, need sandbags on the corners to get those things to grip the ice...same with the other motors, having 4 wheel drive doesn't do anything if you don't have traction, and those motors really aren't that great for it...still fun, but not something you want to rely on to get you out of a rought spot...

Nope, but I've got two mates that had them, well one still does, but he got it when he lived in texas, drove it back to georgia when he left maine last summer...and the other, well it got smacked up by a pickup that wasn't stopping, he tried to accelerate to move, but just sat there and got spanked

his was a rust bucket too with all the salt grits on the road around here, and they really do salt them up, more hassle than the snow at times *l*...but they do cause a fair bit of rust, maybe not on a new jeep, his was about 7-8 years old admittedly.

oh, and to add, both those guys lived in the apartment below mine, and we'd go out in the jeeps all the time to go out hiking, the gym, etc...

mate that had the one smacked up, his best motor was a pathfinder that he got afterwards, but that also got smacked up, by a deer, as it was $200 motor, he junked it afterwards, now drives a safe and boring almera *l*
