And lets not forget that rulings in Massachusetts and Vermont were both put through by those darn activist judges! I think Massachusetts has quite a movement looking to amend their costitution to ban same sex marriage. Even here in the ultra liberal people's republic of Vermont, there's actually quite a vocal movement to "take back Vermont" (whatever that means). And these two are meant to be the most progressive states in the union.

Unfortunately, IMO, US psyche has a long way to go....

To quote my father-in-law "I'm all for gay marriage. Why should hetrosexuals be the only miserable ones?"

Agreed, but when you say this it's important to remember that a large minority (very close to 50%) of Americans support gay marriage and over 75% believe that gay marriage will soon be passed by most states ( http://www.boston.com/news/specials/..._gay_marriage/ ). In more than a few states (notably those on the coasts) support for gay marriage is in the majority.

That's close to 150MM people who support gay marriage, odd are you'll meet a few.

I am just confused about one thing- will Elton John (or is that 'Sir" Elton?) be Mr. or Mrs.?
Or does that depend on if he is the packer or the packee?

The second story is actually from 11-18-03 (note the URL) and appears to be updated to talk about the ruling in San Fran. In any event , it's primarily discussing events that occured in 03.

Ok, cheers - I did notice the 2003 in the URL. Guess my brain hasn't switched on fully
