Lisa, we've been told. Even in a country like China, where they speak different actual languages from each other they are the same!

I get the point about shared culture, I just want ya'll to see my point, that it's not as shared as you may assume. I learn new stuff about the states here myself every week.
Like those flower things they make in Texas & the other football states, for high school home coming? Never heard of that before I read it on BE, and I've been around a fair bit.

To the OP: Are you sure you want to hang about with Brits? All they do is get into arguments about who is right and who is wrong about the US and its cultural differences.

I hope you don't think this is a fair gloss of what I said

But if there's one thing we can agree on, it's that hanging out with other British expats is either good or not good.

Which was quite possibly a work of such literary eloquence as not likely to be seen again this side of a large bottle of gin.

Not half as satisfying as "All-a-y'all". Makes me want to start playing the banjo.

My gin feels sad and out of place.

It recalls fondly the days spent in the factory and then on the supermarket shelf where it would hang out with all the other gin, but these days it wallows dejectedly in a cupboard with only whisky, brandy, wine and cornflakes for company.

Are there any clubs my gin could join?
