Will UK Tax stop me from moving to USA?
SELF EMPLOYED FIRST YEAR...
So I’m paying my taxes, and having issues because I was away when me activation code came. (Its expired whilst I was away which I told them
Im in uk now and applying for a new activation code, but won’t receive it untill cut off date.
Im going to paper send my tax return now however that’s also too late, but I’m going to do it anyway with evidence attached.
Any way my question is..
if i get fined from the HMRC will this affect my move to American in the future and being self employed in that country ?
(More than likely the fine will be removed because I’ve been very communicative with them, and I’ve done everything on my part)
dont know where to post this question but response will be appreciated.

I guess it depends on if it ever gets to the level of a criminal conviction for non-payment. If not then that I would say no.

Generally debt itself won't prevent your visa, but yes, a criminal issue will, potentially.
But you're in communication with HMRC so I hope you can work things out ok.

If by "fine" you mean penalty for late payment, then no, that won't impact an application for a visa to live in the US. Your situation with HMR&C would have to reach the level of a criminal conviction for fraud before it would have any bearing on a US visa application.
