I've been busy training my replacement (switching to another dept. in January), preparing a presentation I have to give for my new dept. so they can assess my presentation skills, and transitioning off a client-side role. Haven't had too much time to dwell on it!

Still need to rent a car, order local currency, etc.

But I'll get there soon enough. Will be sure to post pics too. We're being hosted 7 of our 15 days - pretty cool!

And thanks for remembering.

But seriously... Competition. No one likes to pay someone for not working, and as long as they find someone who'll work more hours and take less time off than you, they have the advantage over your negotiation. Employers don't care about your need to recharge your batteries, they care about the bottom line. Pure and simple.
