Why can't Americans drive ?

Re: Why can't Americans drive ?
I think the other reason why the US really sticks out as the worst, in my opinion, is perhaps that you expect better from the worlds leading country. Driving around, for instance, Freetown, Kabul or Cairo, you don't expect the driving to be up to much, but in the US? It should be.

OK, this has gone a little too far. Drivers in the US are not the best, in general. But that also aren;t the "worst in the world"... how can you compare driving in the US to driving in the Middle East or India (I can;t comment on China, or Africa, nver been there)? I'm guessing a quick look at the accident stats would bear this out... even looking at the sides the cars you can see that side swiping is so common an even that people don;t even worry about it any more (e.g. Beirut, Cairo, Dehli).... drivers in the US are definitely not worse than these places.
